Welcome!

Hello and welcome to glasgowmedic.co.uk – the “missing manual” for the medicine course at Glasgow Uni. Do you feel dazed and confused by PBL? Did you start off full of enthusiasm and energy, but feel it draining away as you are confronted by yet another open-ended task with no idea as to what is actually expected of you? Are you starting to finally admit to yourself that you really haven’t got a clue what to study? Then this site’s probably for you!

This website is being put together by a group of newly-graduated doctors from Glasgow uni (with major contributions from current students too), so we know what it’s like. We’re entirely independent, we’re not being sponsored by the Faculty, the University or the NHS – so we’ll tell it like it is! Follow our tips and advice, and with any luck you’ll avoid all our screw-ups and cruise through the course in the fashion we wish we had adopted ourselves! ;)

We’ll have SSM guides, elective ideas, and a rough guide to the key areas of the curriculum in each year. Flick through the categories on the right for a preview of some of the other things we’ll try and cover.

You can leave comments at the bottom of each article, and there should at some point be a forum for folk to discuss…well, whatever the heck they want to discuss, i guess. In the meantime, please send your thoughts to suggestions _at_ glasgowmedic _dot_ co _dot_ uk – we’ll try and use as many suggestions for improvements and ideas for articles etc as possible. Stayed tuned!
